The last time there was a Daylight Savings Time fall back, it fell on the last Sunday of October.
Folks scrambling to tweak their clocks back in time are(ironically) way too early in doing so. The 2009 DST fall back actually lands on the first Sunday of November. This new change had many off-balance and anxious, however with this clarification be sure to ease up and fall back, i mean, lay back.
So leave your frantic clock/watch/timedevice modifications till next week.
While we’re still on the topic of DST, did you know that the Savings in DST actually really meant Saving instead? ‘Savings’ came to be used commonly as it comes off the tongue better and more naturally. The word Saving is used to describe the ACT of “saving” time. However both savings and saving doesn’t make a heck load of sense as turning the time back doesn’t actually keep the Sun up for any longer than it should. A more accurate term would be “shifting”, as in Daylight Shifting Time.
Well, if only I knew all of these before I happily tuned all the clocks I know of. I probably ended up losing more time than what I “saved”. Excuse me for now I’ll have to go change my times back.
